The Prodigal Bunny

So, I was just sitting at the computer this morning, waiting for my sister-in-law, Anne, to pop by, when I heard a commotion in the front yard of the house next door. Looking out, I saw three neighbours (all from different homes!) desperately trying to catch something. Sure enough, it was Misty.

Since the neighbours were nice enough to try to catch my bunny, I headed outside and next door to see if we could get her. Anne arrived as I was grabbing the kitty carrier and was there when I dove and grabbed the panicky bunny.

Misty is now in the bunny condo on my back stoop. I can't keep her here anymore -- she just keeps getting out and it's too dangerous. I keep glancing up and down the street each day to make sure there are no white bunny smears in the road. So, with no other choice, I called "the bunny lady", and Misty will soon be joining her brothers over on the peninsula.

I am absolutely heartsick. I never asked for these rabbits (see the whole bunny story here), but I have grown very attached to them. I have no idea where Gracie is. Usually, when an escape occurred, Gracie would stick around, but I haven't seen her in days. I hope she's okay.

In the meantime, Misty is in rather cramped quarters for the time being, but at least she can't dig her way out.

Maybe I'm just really tired (woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep), but this is hitting me really, really hard. I think, before the night is out, I'll be consulting my therapists, Ben and Jerry.
