A New Tradition -- The Daily Doodle

So, here's the thing. I really want to gain some drawing skills, but the biggest part of the problem is that I have no self-confidence when it comes to stuff that my hand creates if it's not words. So I avoid drawing.

Using the analogy of "better to run like mad into the cold lake and get it over with", I've decided that I'm going to practice doodling with my tablet and then post the results here on a daily basis. It might take the form of a whine (see today's doodle), or it could just be crazy scribbles, but it will be something I've drawn.

One of the biggest things to get used to with the tablet is the pressure sensitivity aspect of it. I like it -- I just have to remember it when I'm playing, or else the results look different from what I was hoping for.

In other news ... I start my new part-time job tomorrow. I still plan to teach, working around my new hours, but I wanted to do something different -- something good for my soul. Something where I don't have to be the Cell Phone Police and where I can exercise some creativity (or at least get a discount on supplies for same).

So, yes, ladies and gentlemen, tomorrow I get my red apron! Tomorrow I begin working at Michael's! Yay!
