Early to Bed, Too Early to Rise

Been up for about an hour and a half now. Took Advil (incoming winter storm = barometer head). Discovered bottle of Diet Pepsi bought eight hours ago expired in November. Still trying to get bad taste out of my mouth.

Gut feeling says there will be no school tomorrow. (Something about that business of "four hours of freezing rain and ice pellets" on top of "10-15 cm of snow".) Brain says get my butt back to bed, just in case.

I was so tired last night that I recorded the new Big Brother season premiere, rather than stay awake a bit longer to watch it. I was probably asleep somewhere around 9:30 or so. Hubby was watching Caesar and Cleopatra (the one with Claude Rains and Vivien Leigh) when I dozed off. I'd never seen Vivien Leigh in anything but Gone With the Wind, so that was an experience. Sad to say that all of things that annoy me about Scarlett O'Hara turn out to be things that annoy me about Vivien's acting.

School yesterday was hilarious. One of my students (the son of a good friend of mine, incidentally) had me laughing out loud with his "List of IB Pick-Up Lines." Every single one was a classic! I won't share any here in case he takes his act on the road, but he's one of those kids I'm really going to miss after he graduates this year.

Today my thoughts will be concentrated on my friend Harry, and his family, in Virginia. Harry has cancer and today he will be undergoing surgery. If you have a moment, please send "good vibes" their way. These friends are like family to me.

Speaking of family ... my "baby" sister turns 30 today. How the heck did *that* happen?! Hope you have a great one, Doc!

Okay -- toddling back to find a spot on the bed. (Piper grows exponentially when she's passed out on my pillow!)

Night!
