There was a weekend in there somewhere, right?

Sunday night already? How did this happen?

I'm just sitting in bed (my feet are cold), watching the TV Guide Channel scroll by. My laundry is thumping around in the dryer, and I'm just waiting for the QMJHL hockey game to come on Channel 22. I think this may be a first for our team -- being broadcast on Sportsnet -- and I'm both looking forward to it and dreading it. So far, this road trip hasn't been good to our boys.

Not sure when I became such a huge hockey fan. I'm sure a lot of it is simply an extension of sibling rivalry. My sister Krista has been a Halifax Mooseheads fan for a long time now.

I started the day with a fit of creativity, designing a Valentine for Piper to send to the object of her puppy love. Hubby thinks I'm crazy, but I'm sure that the recipient's "parents" will get a kick out of it. I love doing things like this. One of the reasons that mail art is so appealing to me is that most people never find anything nice in their mailboxes anymore. Its always just bills and junk. I'm sorry that I won't be able to see their reaction, but that's okay -- it's more fun to send actual mail addressed to the dog!

The creativity just kept flowing. I made a handful of digital ATCs (which I'll show you tomorrow, because I don't have them resized for the web yet), and then I also printed out a bunch of previously-created-but-never-printed cards. The kids at school are keen to have some card trading sessions, so I really need to get my own butt in gear.

I also need to make more handmade cards. It's so tempting to do the digital ones, because a) I don't need a lot of room, just the computer desk, b) I have so many digital elements to play with, and c) I can't draw to save my life. But I'm using the digital art as a crutch. I'm not learning to paint or draw because I'm not picking up a pencil or a paintbrush, and some people really prefer handmade. It's not a matter of "limited editions", because I only print one card of each design. It's just that some people prefer something a little more "organic".

After the bookmark success, maybe I'll be more keen to experiment now.
