And for my next trick ...

Well, it seems I can only last a day or so without something to hook. So I thought about this for a few days and I decided that I really wanted to hook a protective cover for my rughooking frame. That way I get to practice some more and I'll be making something I need anyway.

So I thought about the design for a few days and, after looking at patterns for covering bricks to make doorstops, I pretty much figured it out. The only problem was, once I started putting the design on my linen, I realized that there was only about a centimetre left on either side -- on fraying linen, at that. (I only bought half a yard for my first linen purchase, which is why it's narrow.)

Obviously I'm not going to be able to hook those flaps that come down, but perhaps I can cover them with wool fabric or something. I'll figure that out later. If worse comes to worst and I get the main (centre) part done and can't do something with the flaps that come down, I'll just use the middle as a mat/table runner and use the flaps as margins for doing the finishing. It's all good.

I'm really not sure what I'm going to do with the centre yet. Part of me just wants to do something geometrical, like squares. Another part of me wants to do some flowers. At any rate, I have to remember that because I use a wide cut of wool, I can't have intricate details, and that because my wool stash thus far has come from the "this-and-that" basket, I probably won't be able to get any more, should I run out of a particular colour.

Must ponder this some more ...
