I subscribe to Lisa Vollrath's weekly newsletter, and when I read it this morning, I learned of an artist and her brother, a remarkable man named Charles.
Charles is a 58-year-old mentally-challenged man who brings sunshine to everyone around him. Unfortunately his light is dimming -- Charles has cancer.
I read about Charles on his sister Mary's blog, and it touched me deep inside. Please read his story, and, if you have a moment, send him a card.
It is so rare that we have an opportunity to really make a difference in the life of a stranger, particularly when they may need it the most. Charles sounds like a really wonderful person, and it would take so little to brighten his day.
I'm going to make a few cards and then stagger when I mail them. Maybe I'll see if some of the art kids at school would like to make a few cards too. (I'll provide the postage and envelopes.)

Thanks for doing this. Mary is one of the dearest, sweetest people I've ever met, and she adores her brother. You are doing a good thing for two wonderful people!
