Today, my niece Emily (AKA the most-ardent-per-pound fan of Canada's official winter sport) met and showed appreciation for one of our national treasures: the Stanley Cup.
Heaven knows that lots of grown men on skates dream of doing just the same thing!
Perhaps Emily will one day grow up to be a famous hockey player. By then women may be playing in the NHL, and this picture will surface again. I can just see it splashed all over newscasts. But, even if she never sees the cup again, this picture is a classic!
(I just hope Emily's mom hasn't read this article about where the Cup has been!)
