Remember me?

Hi! I feel like it’s been forever since we chatted. Things have been a little hectic (but in a good, productive way).

My university courses started on Monday, and I worked both Monday and Tuesday. That means that I went to “the school where I work” at about 8:00 AM, left there at 3:30 PM, and was in class at “the school where I learn” from 4:30 to about 7:00 PM. So by the time I got home, got supper, and did a little bit of unwinding, it was already time to go to bed! My classes run Monday to Thursday, and I’m taking two: Statistics for Health Sciences and Intro to Space Studies, and they’re both going to be great, I think.

Yes — I did just say that a math-type course was going to be great. … Yeah, I know. I’m staring at it too. But the prof seems really nice; she takes the time to explain everything, and she seems really keen that her students be successful. I can definitely work with someone like that. There’s a lot of terminology to wrap my head around, but she provides good examples, and I’m sure that if I just spend some time working with the terms, I’ll be fine.

Intro to Space Studies seems really interesting. When I tell people I’m taking it, they look at me like I’ve morphed into, well, an alien. (It’s kind of the same look I get when they find out I’m going to dental school, so I’m getting used to it.) But I need a half-year course to help bump up my transcript, and I’ve always been interested in space. Not in the “I want to be an astronaut” kind of way, but in more of a spectator fashion. I still remember watching the first space shuttle launch back in 1981, when I was in grade five. I’ve followed the shuttle program, its successes and sadness, for most of my life. I guess it’s only natural — the day the Eagle landed on the moon, my mother found out that the Stork had also landed (because she was pregnant with me).

Piper is beside herself. She clearly doesn’t like the fact that she’s not seeing much of me, the poor thing. Even Zaph seems a little more “velcro-kitty” than usual.

Well, since it looks like I’m not working today, I guess I should make good use of my time. I want to do some studying, plus I have a ton of stuff that I still need to do for my “volunteer life”. I’m definitely going to be scaling back on that stuff! I need to focus more on me right now.

And art? One of these days I’ll get back to hooking that rug. And making ATCs. And all of those other things I love to do that keep me sane. But for the next few weeks, running between “my two schools” is going to keep me occupied, I think.
