Time to start the spring countdown?

First snowDriving back from Halifax yesterday, I stopped in Dieppe for gas.  As I came out from paying, a sinking feeling hit me.  There were snow flurries merrily flitting through the air and smacking me in the face.

So when I woke up this morning and realized that the light leaking in around the window blinds was different, I knew what it was.  It's hard to explain to someone who hasn't seen snow, but the light is different.  The air smells different.  It's almost magical.

I know what you're thinking: "KJ is biologically opposed to winter."  Yeah, I am.  Besides having SAD, I hate winter.  And I hate cold.  I hate driving in snow, I hate falling down, and I hate how interminable it all feels.

But at the same time ... Well, that first little bit of snow always turns me into a little kid.  I want to run outside and make a snowman -- even though I'd have to scrounge to make a snowball.  It's barely enough to cover the soles of my sneakers, and will be gone this afternoon.

All the forecasts I've read for this coming season have said that we're going to have an early winter.  I'd say this morning was Mother Nature's answer to the almanacs.

It's 1st of November and flakes are flying as I type.
I'm the total opposite ... I love snow, I HATE heat. This is wet snow, but I love it when it's cold and fluffy. It all gets quiet outside when it has fallen, and as you rightly said ... it smells different. It's white and pure.

Is this blog running on WordPress or is it entirely self-hosted?
I've put mine on WordPress now, and it's great to be back there. I'm thinking loosely about putting in the "Facebook Connect", but I'm ambivalent.

I hate extremes -- hot AND cold.

This blog is self-hosted but I use WordPress. Same thing for The View From the Market.
