When the girl needs water ...

At 8:50 yesterday morning, I woke up as Hubby said goodbye on his way to work. At 9:05 AM, I hit the computer and noticed my friend Heather was online. By 9:09 AM, I had made the impulsive decision to meet Heather for lunch -- on Grand Manan.

I absolutely love Grand Manan, and taking the ferry is a huge part of the appeal for me. An hour and a half in either direction makes my inner mermaid (the one who can't swim?) quite content. I think having had the teaser of a river ferry the day before was the genesis of the Grand Manan trip.

Heather and I have been half-planning my visit for years, so it's quite funny that it took me ten seconds to realize that yesterday would be perfect. I had a little bit of money, and the day was free. We even lucked out where the weather was concerned.

After lunch at Galloway's, it was obvious that taking the 3:30 boat back was simply leaving too soon. I think, in some ways, a favourite part of my day yesterday was having my picture taken at Swallowtail Light, with the ferry I was supposed to be on shrinking in the distance. (It's that little white dot behind me on the horizon.)

All in all, it was a fabulous day, but you can bet I was pooped when I got home! If you'd like to see the rest of my pictures (we're both scrapbookers, so we took a few!), you can see them at Flickr as a set.

I've love to go. Anthony's been a couple of times, but I've never visited Grand Manan. Maybe next summer...
