I got my snow day, which was good, because I woke up in the middle of the night with a brutal tension headache.
While waiting to hear the closure announcement, I was panicking because I'm filling in for the same person all week, and, as such, am using the laptop and projector a lot. It would have been difficult to try to put together a lesson plan from home.
So I was very glad about the snow day as it took care of that problem. Unfortunately it didn't take long for a new problem to come along.
After digging my car out of the snowbank, I realized that there was something seriously wrong with the power steering. To be more specific, I didn't have any power steering.
I spent a huge chunk of today dealing with that. The mechanic took a look and said he thought it might be frozen, so he suggested I drive it around, let the engine heat up, and, if that failed, to try to park it somewhere warm.
I drove it on the highway for about an hour, and I parked it in an underground garage (under the heat ducts, no less) for five hours.
It's still not working, my headache is still raging (fueled, no doubt, by worries of repair bills), and my holiday to-do list is still eleven feet long.
But at least there's another snowstorm coming on Wednesday/Thursday, so maybe I'll get caught up then. *grin*
