Horror show.

Last night, while our team was defeating the PEI Rocket 7-3, all hell was breaking loose in Chicoutimi.

The Quebec Remparts were in Chicoutimi and losing 7-1 (final was 10-1) when a few fights broke out. The worst part, though, was when coach/owner Patrick Roy's son, Jonathan, left his net, skated all the way to the other end of the ice, and started beating the daylights out of Chicoutimi goalie, Bobby Nadeau. Nadeau, who clearly wanted nothing to do with fighting, just stood there as Roy came at him like a runaway train, punching Nadeau over and over again, even when the poor guy was down on the ice. It was, by far, the absolute worst violence I've ever seen in a hockey game, and looking at the video makes me sick to my stomach.

There's talk that Patrick Roy (yes, that Patrick Roy) egged his son on. In the video, it looks like Jonathan looks over at the bench, seems to get a signal, then whips off his gloves and takes off. If nothing else, it's clear the boy gets his temper from his daddy, given some of the hotheadedness the elder Roy has displayed through the years. (Too bad the talent wasn't hereditary.)

It'll be interesting to see what sort of repercussions are announced tomorrow.
