Plead edscooze by stubbed ub node, ed sedra...

2009-11-11Well, we all knew that I'd get it.  In fact, I thought I'd already had it!  But no -- judging by the way I'm feeling and that I have all seven of the "almost always" and "common" symptoms, along with two of the three "sometimes" symptoms, I suspect that I've got H1N1.

Given all of the local insanity about vaccinations in this area (people jumping lines, clinics being cancelled because they've run out of vaccine, etc.), I'm almost glad that I can't get the shot due to my allergy to eggs.

Woke up Monday morning at 2:39 AM with a whopper of a fever, blinding headache and sore throat.  Since then things have been getting steadily worse.  Today's novelty is a head full of gunk on top of everything else.

Today is Remembrance Day, and for the first time in years, I won't be at a cenotaph.  I want to show veterans my respect, and I think the best way to do that this year is by staying away from them.

2009-11-11I think I'm most stunned by how quickly it came on.  On Sunday afternoon, I was out getting my 300th geocache with my friend Eebee, and twelve hours later I was waking up thinking I was about to find the great cache in the sky!  (I hope Eebee isn't sick, too.)

For my 300th cache, I picked a sentimental choice: The Spectacular Welsford Falls.  It's located in the community where I grew up, and I hadn't been to the falls in twenty-five years, so it was definitely a winner.  And the site was just as amazing as I'd remembered it.

Okay, I'm toddling back to bed now.

If you can get to a cenotaph today at the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, please consider going in person to pay your respects to those veterans present and those made the ultimate sacrifice.  You will be glad you did.
