Hi, Guys,
It's been a rotten few days, that's for sure. Starting with last Friday's home game, when the Wildcats scored fourteen seconds into the game, continuing on Sunday with that game in Moncton, and then the local paper all but burying you, I imagine morale has slid to an all-time low.I'll be honest -- my knowledge of hockey hasn't grown substantially since grade six gym class: "Stick, ball, net. Put ball in net with stick." I hesitate to post anything on the local hockey message boards because everyone there is a (self-professed?) expert. But I have had a season ticket for the same seat for each and every season and play-off series since the Saint John Sea Dogs began playing in Harbour Station. And I know that you are better than this.
Stop listening to the polls. Stop listening to the "Moncton just has a better team" rhetoric that's been going on since the Christmas trade period. Remember that you were solidly ranked the top team in the QMJHL for most of the regular season and were the regular season champions. Remember that you have the league's MVP. (Hoffman, that means you.) Remember that you deserve to be at the President's Cup because you are championship material!
I don't know what's been going on so far this series, but it's the Finals, and there's just been no heart! I may not know that much about hockey, but I know enough to know that the team I was watching all season long is not the team I've seen the last few games. That lacklustre effort has been a stark contrast to every game other played so far this year. I want the regular season team back. Shake off whatever it is that's gotten you down and play like I know you can -- like I've seen you play before. Play like the team for which I've gone hoarse cheering, game after game.
Tonight might be the last home game of the year at Harbour Station. Despite having to drive to Fredericton at the crack of dawn tomorrow morning, I will be there in my seat, ready for the game -- ready to yell and cheer and make noise. Because I am a Saint John Sea Dogs fan, and that's what I do.
Do what you do. Make me proud.

I do hope they read this!!! It was so good.. Well said.
Couldn't have said it better myself! I'm no expert either, but this season, I've gotten used to seeing a team that plays its collective heart out every night. If that happens tonight, I may be going to Moncton Friday night with a chance to see the boys tie the series!
[...] came across a great blog post, that is sure to boost local spirits, which may have taken a beating this [...]
Well said! I agree with you. I am very proud of our boys and I know they can do this. I hope they know that their fans are still rooting for them and behind them 100% even though some fans don't make that much noise at the games!! I hope they have the opportunity to read what you have written.
Go Dogs go!
Well done chickie! and you know how much I love hockey!! ;)
