So, I just got home from the movies, and if this rain keeps up, I'm going to wish I were a singing dolphin, instead of just having my head full of them!
I've never read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The closest I've come (besides having an uncle named Douglas Adams) was when, trying to figure out why my future husband referred to my dog as a "hoopy frood" (spelling, anyone?), I sat down with the book. I didn't get far.
We went to see it in the theatre today, and I guess all I really needed to get involved was a bunch of dolphins singing Broadway-style. Of course! Why didn't I think of that? (Of course, I now have the dolphins singing one line incessantly in my head, but hey. It's the gift that keeps on giving.)
I enjoyed it. Maybe enough to give the book another whirl.

I found your blog through our mutual love of Colin Firth. It seems we are both teachers and Canadian as well. I never relaly "got" that hitchhiker stuff either although I often quote it having never read it. So long and thanks for all the fish. The answer to everything is 42. Anyway, just thought I'd say hi and keep writing. You are very funny. Check out my blog--"Observations on the Chaos that isis my life". You might enjoy a posting called "they don't pay me enough" which is on the joys of teaching in today's economy. J.
